Why shoes???? - the shoes reference people. Shoes are personal possessions, because they strongly evoke the presence – and the loss- of the person to whom they belong.
- when a person disappears, everything becomes impregnated with that person’s presence. Every single object but also every space is a reminder of his or her absence, as if absence were stronger than presence.
- few design objects are as universal as shoes. They are the most common and primary extension of our body into the landscape. They are the link between our feet and the earth. Shoes are our interface with the city streets, shielding us from contact.
